Photron High-Speed Imaging Systems

Product Range

From compact laboratory cameras to ultra-high-speed imaging platforms, multi-head crash-test systems, polarization cameras, and real-time streaming solutions, Photron offers a camera for virtually every high-speed imaging challenge.

Complete High-Speed Imaging Solutions.

Photron high-speed cameras are used in automotive safety, aerospace and defense, materials testing, fluid dynamics, combustion, biomechanics, academia, production troubleshooting, polarization research, and many other scientific and industrial applications.

The right system depends on the balance between frame rate, resolution, light sensitivity, exposure time, recording duration, camera size, synchronization, environmental demands, and analysis requirements.

Browse by Product Family

Choose a family based on resolution, performance level, camera format, recording method, and application requirements.

1MP to 2MP Cameras

High-performance megapixel platforms for DIC, PIV, materials, impact, combustion, research, and general high-speed imaging.

Ultra High-Speed Cameras

Specialized platforms for events requiring exceptional frame rates, very short exposures, and high sensitivity at more than 100,000 fps.

Tethered-Head Systems

Remote heads for confined, hazardous, high-G, and multi-view installations where a conventional stand-alone camera cannot be positioned.

High-Speed Streaming

Continuous image transfer to PC memory for real-time processing, machine vision, computer vision, automation, and long-duration recording workflows.

Cámaras de polarización

Specialized optical systems for birefringence, retardation, stress, film, surface, fracture, and other polarization-dependent measurements.

Automotive Safety Cameras

Compact, rugged camera systems for onboard crash testing, restraint analysis, confined locations, and high-G vehicle-safety environments.

Legacy Camera Support

Find replacement guidance, legacy manuals, software resources, and current-product alternatives for discontinued Photron systems.

How to Select the Right High-Speed Camera

The best camera is not always the one with the highest single specification. A successful system balances speed, image quality, light, recording time, physical installation, and the measurements that must be extracted from the images.

Frame Rate Choose enough temporal resolution to clearly separate each important stage of the event.
Resolution Preserve the features, targets, particles, deformation, or field of view required for analysis.
Light Sensitivity Account for short exposures, filters, microscopes, lasers, enclosed setups, and low-light tests.
Exposure Time Freeze fast motion and reduce blur without sacrificing more light than the setup can provide.
Recording Duration Match onboard memory or streaming performance to the event length and trigger uncertainty.
Camera Form Factor Consider mounting space, remote heads, high-G loads, environmental protection, and working distance.
Synchronization Coordinate multiple cameras with lighting, sensors, test equipment, lasers, and timing systems.
Analysis Workflow Plan for DIC, PIV, tracking, polarization, image export, SDK integration, or real-time processing.
