SUMMARY:Trilion Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Join us Wednesday\, December 5th from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM as we host a webinar with Trilion. The webinar will be hosted by two world-class engineers who are experts in their respected fields. You’re not going to want to miss this great event! \nWhen: December 5th. 2018 @ 12pm-1pm EST (9am-10am PST) \nDigital image correlation (DIC) is a widely used full-field measurement technique\, in which a calibrated stereo camera pair determines the 3D coordinates of thousands of points within a dot pattern that is applied with spray paint or ink. During rapid post-processing\, reference coordinates are subtracted from each measurement frame\, thus obtaining full-field 3D displacements and directional and principal strains that can be viewed as color maps\, movies\, vectors\, time histories\, etc. The system can determine local displacements at the micron level despite significant rigid body motion. \nThis seminar will discuss the general benefits of full-field measurements\, which include visualizing strain gradients and hot spots\, verification\, and iteration of finite element models\, and making otherwise impossible measurements. Digital high-speed cameras have been used for DIC at speeds up to 300\,000 frames per second\, but many applications only require 1\,000-10\,000 frames per second. Much more data is obtained much more easily than with strain gauges\, draw wires\, LVDTs\, etc. \nWe will review important high-speed camera features and options as well as the different price/performance points available in the Photron product line\, and will provide details on the new FASTCAM Nova camera model and PFV4 control software. \nNumerous high-speed applications will be shown\, including: \nBiomechanics Impact Testing\nHelmet Ballistic Impacts\nHopkinson Bar High Strain Rate Testing\nExplosive Loading of Sheet Metal\nRotor Blade Vibrations on Hovering Helicopter\nRocket Nozzle Deformations\nParachute Strains During Drop Tests\nCrossbow Deformations\nMicroelectronics and Device Drop Testing\nAir Blast Effect Testing \nSee below website information to register.

SUMMARY:16th International Conference - Protection of Children in Cars
DESCRIPTION:The Conference\nThe 2018 Conference offers a detailed view on international CRS markets\, their relevant safety regulations / testing systems and results from accident studies\, showing improvement but still challenges in the future. New mobility concepts and transport configurations up to future autonomous vehicles may influence the design\, the use of child restraint systems and safety cultures in general. \nBesides these special items\, the standing topics of the conference from the past will be updated and recent developments worldwide will be reported in detail. \nThe 16th International Conference will act as worldwide forum for safety engineers\, accident researchers\,experts in biomechanics and pediatricians\, representatives of rulemaking\, consumer organizations and promoters of safety campaigns. \nWorkshop\nOn December 5\, 2018 a workshop will bring people together who are interested in sociocultural aspects in road traffic. There will be a free discussion based on short impact presentations regarding the future transportation of children in new modes of mobility\, including new ways of vehicle ownership\, and how safety culture can be supported by press Promotion and educational programs and the need of promoting safety culture in a general. \nClick here for more information.

SUMMARY:AIAA - SciTech
DESCRIPTION:From its creation in 1963\, the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) has organized conferences to serve the aerospace profession as part of its core mission. Spanning over 70 technical discipline areas\, AIAA’s conferences provide scientists\, engineers\, and technologists the opportunity to present and disseminate their work in structured technical paper and poster sessions\, learn about new technologies and advances from other presenters\, further their professional development\, and expand their professional networks that furthers their work. \nIn 2012\, AIAA made the decision to transition to a new event model starting in 2014. This new model co-locates and incorporates AIAA’s individual technical conferences as part of five major forums\, each focusing on a major theme — Science and Technology\, Aviation\, Space\, Propulsion and Energy\, Defense. These new forums will help AIAA maintain and strengthen its role as the technical leader while becoming more relevant to a larger segment of the aerospace community. The forum strategy will enhance our events to serve a broad cross section of the membership and our industry — not only those members focused in the traditional aerospace technologies but also those working further up the “product chain\,” in process execution and mission applications as well as integration and systems. It was also to increase communication among the different “groups” involved in the aerospace development chain\, which will benefit all involved and increase innovative outcomes. \nThe AIAA Science and Technology Forum and Exposition (AIAA SciTech Forum) has continued to grow in each succeeding year\, drawing participants from around the globe. Plenary and Forum 360 participants tackled the most pressing issues impacting the future of aerospace\, while the technical program presented innovative research and technologies that offer solutions. \nGet more information here.

SUMMARY:Next-Generation High-Speed Measurement Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Do you have an interest in high-speed strain and displacement measurements? Regardless of what type of high-speed camera you use\, or even if you don’t have one at all\, this workshop will show you how to turn your images into quantitative results for your testing using our Digital Image Correlation software. \nJoin us at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force in Wright-Patterson AFB\, OH (just outside of Dayton) for our half-day Next-Generation High-Speed Measurement Workshop. This event will showcase how easily you can take high-speed measurements with ARAMIS 3D Digital Image Correlation (DIC) System\, including high-speed strain\, displacements\, and vibration analysis measurements. The workshop will be held in conjunction with the experts at Photron High-Speed Cameras. You don’t want to miss this opportunity to become expert users in the art of high-speed digital image correlation! \nDigital Image Correlation provides precise measurements of real\, complex materials and structures\, making it the perfect tool in aerospace testing. Using high-speed camera equipment can provide critical data for accurate measurement and precise validation of computer models. Opening the door for several applications such as ballistic impact\, bomb blast effect testing\, crash testing\, Hopkinson Bar testing\, etc. ARAMIS is reported to be 10x cheaper than traditional gages\, 50x faster to use\, and 100x more data for better model validation! \nIncluded with the workshop is a free copy of our 2D evaluation software. Trilion can readily import test images from any external camera\, making this workshop open to all who have high-speed camera equipment.
