SUMMARY:MIT Short Course
DESCRIPTION:This program is designed for scientists\, engineers\, and imaging specialists who need to gather data on rapidly moving subjects and events for study\, motion analysis\, and trouble-shooting. Mornings are spent in the lecture hall learning the fundamentals of lighting\, imaging technologies\, and motion analysis. Afternoons are spent making high-speed images in the laboratory. In addition to carrying out the standard techniques\, attendees will try out the latest in high-speed-imaging equipment\, with the manufacturer’s representatives there to provide hands-on education and experience with the systems. The course is held at the Edgerton Center at MIT — the home of Doc Edgerton’s Stroboscopic Light Laboratory\, where much of the history of the field was written. \nWith support from the leading manufacturers and consultants\, this program features the broadest experience available anywhere in high-speed electronic imaging and image analysis. The scope of the program should make it invaluable to anyone who wishes to broaden their capabilities in the field of high-speed imaging.

DESCRIPTION:The Optical Systems Group (OSG) is the RCC’s Center of Expertise for optical imaging systems employed on Major Range and Test Facility Base (MRTFB) facilities\, Tactical Training Ranges\, and at National Laboratories. The OSG serves as a technical resource for the government’s Test and Evaluation community. Key functions associated with this group include the acquisition\, processing\, post processing\, analysis\, archiving\, and distribution of imagery from both engineering sequential and Time-Space-Position Information (TSPI) optical systems for missions on land\, in the air\, underwater\, and in space. The focus on imaging within the OSG extends from the ultraviolet to the long wave infrared portion of the electromagnetic spectrum. The group provides a forum for its members to expand their knowledge base\, initiate cooperative research projects\, and improve individual mission performance via semi-annual technical interchange meetings\, task assignments\, and ad hoc committees. These meetings facilitate the evaluation of new imaging technology\, the development of optics related standards\, the identification of areas for tri-service standardization\, the promotion of common range architectures and the engineering of technical solutions for optical problems.

DESCRIPTION:Explosives Research and Testing\nJoin Photron will be onsite to help at the upcoming workshop utilizing high-speed cameras for imaging during explosives testing and research. \nThe Energetic Materials Research and Testing Center (EMRTC)\, a major research and training division of New Mexico Tech\, is internationally recognized and has over 60 years experience in explosives research and testing. EMRTC specializes in the research\, development\, testing\, and analysis of energetic materials for both corporate and government clients. \nAs one of several research divisions of New Mexico Tech\, EMRTC has access to university faculty with experience in a wide variety of scientific and technical disciplines. EMRTC’s 40-square-mile field laboratory is located in the mountains adjacent to the New Mexico Tech campus in Socorro\, New Mexico. The field laboratory contains more than 30 test sites\, gun ranges\, other research facilities and storage areas\, allowing for a complete spectrum of research and testing activities. EMRTC has the ability to conduct tests involving over 20\,000 pounds of explosives.

ISBE combines the study of animal behavior with evolutionary biology and population ecology\, and more recently\, physiology and molecular biology. Adaptation is the central unifying concept. \nEstablished in 1986\, the International Society for Behavioral Ecology (ISBE) is a Learned Society run by members of the behavioural ecology research community. It exists to promote the discipline of behavioural ecology\, to provide researchers in behavioral ecology with a forum to present and publish their work\, exchange views\, and get to know each other. \nThe core objectives are achieved through the publication of the society journal Behavioral Ecology and the organization of an international conference every two years. The ISBE endeavors to be open and non-discriminatory in all its activities. This includes an ‘author blind’ reviewing system for papers in the journal and in the selection of talks for the society meetings.
